What is the R10 mod?

The modification expands the frequency range, if blocked out on the US version, to give you uninterrupted coverage.  This modification was found to work on the models that were assembled and shipped to the US prior to early 1998.  Once the FCC discovered what could be done to these models, the R10s were recalled and/or possibly stripped of their FCC certification.  Only un-modifiable models were shipped to the US after that. Many have reported that once they did the mod on their unit it did not work and they assumed they had the later models that were "fixed".  Try this one at your own risk !  It may not work on your model depending on when manufactured and shipped to the US. The mod is very difficult due to the size of the resistors and solder pads.

On US models from the factory, two resistors are missing from the solder pads in the locations shown.  Once 10K chip resistors are added, the frequencies once blocked, reappear.
